Dee Kornetti, a physical therapist for 30 years, is a past administrator and co-owner of a Medicare-certified home health agency. Kornetti now provides training and education to home health providers through a consulting business, Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions, with her business partners Cindy Krafft and Sherry Teague, where she serves as its chief operations officer. Kornetti is nationally recognized as a speaker in the areas of home care, standardized tests and measures in the field of physical therapy, therapy training and staff development, including OASIS, coding, and documentation, in the home health arena. Kornetti is the current president of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Home Health Section and serves on the APTA’s national Post-Acute Work Group. For over 15 years, Robert W. Markette, Jr., CHC, HCS-C has focused his practice on representing home health, hospice, private duty and DME providers in all aspects of their operations. Karen Tibbs is the Senior Quality Manager in OASIS and Coding at McBee. She has a master’s degree in healthcare quality and 23 years of homecare experience with extensive knowledge in medical review, regulatory compliance, performance improvement and ICD-10 and OASIS accuracy. As an industry expert, Karen has partnered with home care agencies nation-wide to develop and implement processes to improve clinical and financial outcomes. She is a frequent speaker for home care audiences on assessment data collection, strategies for accuracy, establishing the plan of care and documentation standards.
Ms. Whitemyer’s expertise is in ICD-10 coding, post-acute billing and coding education, along with OASIS and outcomes management. She has more than 18 years of experience in post-acute healthcare as the previous owner of a full-service coding and consulting company, along with experience in the development of coding, billing/revenue cycle and clinical education resources for post-acute care. Ms. Whitemyer has worked for the past eleven years as a consultant and home health and hospice coding expert, providing agencies nationally with survey compliance; medical reviews and appeals of Medicare denials; writing corrective action plans; and developing policy, managing revenue cycle and billing compliance, coding and quality assurance processes, and coding and OASIS education. She has also contributed to and created multiple print and electronic product resources focused on coding, billing, quality management, and clinical best practices. She previously contributed to multiple print and electronic Decision Health publications and acted as the lead technical editor on the 2018, 2019, and 2020 Optum post-acute ICD-10 manuals. Lori is currently responsible for setting clinical direction and overseeing all operations of CorsoCare. CorsoCare is a Certified Home Health Care and Hospice Company.
With 32 years of nursing experience, Lori is currently licensed to practice nursing in Michigan and Florida. She previously co-founded a regional multimillion-dollar Medicare Certified Home Health Care Company. Early in her nursing career she combined her clinical knowledge with her legal interests and began working as a specialized member of a litigation team that led to earning her Certified Legal Nurse Consulting credentials. Her working career has included clinical, operations management, risk management and providing strategies for organic growth and acquisitions.
Hansell has been a physical therapist in the home health setting since October 1998, holding positions of field therapist, rehab manager, and quality/compliance assurance. As owner of Therapy and More, LLC, she assists agencies in achieving therapy documentation and practice excellence in order to better position themselves against auditors. Consulting services further consist of OASIS auditing and coding practice. She has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1995, where she recently served as the Vice President of the Home Health Section.
Arlene Maxim, RN, HCS-C is a home health and hospice expert with A.D. Maxim Holdings, LLC. Nelly Leon-Chisen, RHIA, is the Director of Coding and Classification at the American Hospital Association where she is responsible for leading the AHA Central Office on ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and Central Office on HCPCS. She represents the AHA as one of the four ICD-10 Cooperating Parties. She is also the executive editor of AHA Coding Clinic® for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and AHA Coding Clinic® for HCPCS, and author of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Coding Handbook published by AHA Press. She has over 30 years’ experience in the health information management field including consulting, teaching, technical and management experience in hospital medical record departments. She is a Past President of the Chicago Area Health Information Management Association and a recipient of the Professional Achievement Award from the Illinois Health Information Management Association. Lynn is a registered nurse by trade with an accounting background She has 25 years’ experience in the home health industry from working in the field as a clinician, a case manager, director/vice-president, and then many years of consulting with agencies assisting with Quality Improvement and Outcome Based Quality Initiatives and Research, education and conferences on topics to include ICD10 Coding, OASIS, Documentation, Regulatory Requirements, and Potential Fraud & Abuse Issues. She currently owns and operates Medical Coding Answers, LLC. a coding and consulting business for home health agencies as well as serves as an Administrator and Director at Hendrick HouseCalls a privately owned hospital-based home health agency. Lynn maintains her HCS-D coding certification through the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and her OASIS certification through OASIS Answers.
As a well-known homecare coding and OASIS specialist with extensive nursing experience, Jennifer is an informational ally for hundreds of home health agencies across the country. Jennifer served as educational director at one of the leading home health software companies in the country for 17 years and certified as an official ICD-10 trainer. Sharon Harder is president of C3 Advisors, LLC. Harder oversees all home health and hospice client projects, the majority of which are focused on compliance issues including scheduled Medicare/Medicaid compliance audits, acquisition due diligence, preparation of responses to investigations and labor/compensation issues. In addition, Harder was a founder of a successful pediatric health care company providing center-based extended care to medically fragile patients along with home health, medical equipment and infusion services offered in partnership with major children’s’ hospitals. She is a frequent speaker on home health and hospice regulatory issues and has authored numerous articles on key industry topics, including recent contributions on Value-Based Purchasing, emergency preparedness and the Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM).
Maurice began his career in Home Care in 2005. After serving 30 years in the US Navy, he started his second career with Bon Secours Home Health and Hospice as an Insurance Authorizations Specialist in February of that year. In 2008 he became a CPC-A. That year he also earned his HCS-D and was given the position as Coding Specialist for Bon Secours Home Care and Hospice where he was responsible for the coding for the organization. During his time, he has also earned his HCS-H and assumed the responsibility for Hospice coding as well as continuing his role as coder for Home Health.
In 2018 he was selected as the organizations first Coding Training and Educator for Bon Secours Home Health and Hospice. As such, he is responsible for the training and education, coordination, monitoring and auditing the certified coders for Home Health and Hospice.Over the past 8 years he has written several Coding Basic articles on coding topics covering both Home Health and Hospice for Diagnosis Coding Pro.
Annette is a registered nurse, with a Master’s in Health Care Administration, practicing since 1990, with the majority of her nursing experience in home health. For over a decade she worked with the CMS intermediary where she provided review of, and education on home health and hospice payment and documentation. Annette then founded Provider Insights, Inc. to provide consultation and education regarding Medicare reimbursement issues and effective documentation strategies, assisting providers with ADRs and appeals. Today she marries together her experience in the “real world” and the inside knowledge of Medicare to ensure providers can meet the requirements of CMS, and ensure compliant, efficient operations. She presents nationally on OASIS, PPS, documentation and coverage. Annette holds both the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical and the Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis certification.
A registered nurse since 2005, Sandy received her RN and BSN degrees along with a degree in marketing. Sandy has also been a paralegal and business analyst in both Iowa and North Carolina. Currently the Vice President Home Health Regulatory and Clinical Affairs for the Association for Home & Hospice Care of North Carolina and the South Carolina Home Care & Hospice Association, Sandy has most recently worked for CGS Administrators, a Medicare Audit Contractor for CMS (similar to Palmetto GBA – both co-owned by Cererian) as a Senior Provider Education Consultant where she educated home health and hospice providers on Medicare home health and hospice clinical regulations, PDGM, TPE, and performed reviews of medical charts, including information provided by the hospice providers, and their staff and physicians using criteria set by Medicare standards and clinical guidelines. Sandy has been a Medical Reviewer with both Medical Review and Appeals before her educator position. She has presented at both national and state conferences for both hospice and home health for many years.
Prior to CGS, Sandy was a Clinical Supervisor, an RN case manager, and served in many capacities at various hospice & home health agencies in Iowa.
