Lock in proper payment for rotator cuff repair, acromioplasty, debridement and other key shoulder procedures

Orthopedic practices have been bombarded with new bundling rules for shoulder surgery procedures in recent years. From last year’s change, prohibiting practices from bundling shoulder procedure code pairs when both procedures are done on the same shoulder, to the CPT 29826 (Partial acromioplasty) code revision — it’s a constant struggle to stay on top of the latest rules.

Now, in the most recent change, when debriding with another arthroscopic procedure, such as capsulorrhaphy or rotator cuff repair, the debridement procedure is bundled. If you don’t code these properly, your claims will be denied and your practice won’t see that revenue you worked so hard to earn.

Strengthen your ortho code-bundling knowledge to prevent denials. Join coding expert Margie Scalley Vaught to get targeted guidance on new Medicare coding rules for arthroscopic debridement, and brush up on your coding for acromioplasty, synovectomy, SLAP repair and biceps tenodesis…among others.

During this webinar you will learn:

  • The difference between a partial and a complete synovectomy, and what must be documented to support each
  • The most compliant way to bill Medicare for debridement with partial acromioplasty (complicated by Medicare’s new bundling policy for debridement codes 29822 and 29823 with other arthroscopic procedures)
  • How to report a stand-alone partial acromioplasty and how to report arthroscopic acromioplasty done on the same shoulder as an open rotator cuff repair
  • Diagnosis coding of common shoulder conditions – including acute and chronic rotator cuff tears – in both ICD-9 and ICD-10 so you get a quick snapshot of new documentation and coding requirements for the new code set
  • How to determine when code 23420 (Reconstruction of complete shoulder [rotator] cuff avulsion) is warranted, according to the AMA and AAOS

Rules changed this year for many of your frequently-billed shoulder procedures – get the most up to date information about all these changes, and how it will affect your coding, to ensure full reimbursement.
