James S. Kennedy, MD, CCS, CDIP is the founder and President of CDIMD, a Nashville-based physician and facility advisory and consulting firm that advocates ICD-10-pertinent clinical documentation and coding integrity essential to healthcare revenue cycles and quality measurement.  As a coding and CDI expert with over 15 years of experience and as a frequent speaker to medical staff, Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) associations, Dr. Kennedy is nationally recognized for his subject matter expertise, communication skills, and problem-solving approach.  He has been designated as a Certified Coding Specialist and Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner by the American Health Information Management Association and he has previously served on the advisory board of the American Clinical Documentation Improvement Society (ACDIS).

Judith Blaszczyk has 19 years of experience as a registered nurse working in an acute care hospital setting. This background provides invaluable insight into the clinical aspects of medical coding and documentation as well as experience interacting with physicians and other clinicians. In addition to her clinical background, she has more than 25 years of experience in medical coding and billing, specializing in anesthesia and pain management.

Doris Branker is president of DB Healthcare Consulting, a spractice management consulting firm that also offers medical coding preparation camps. Doris is a nationally-recognized educator, coding expert, and practice management consultant, as well as an approved educator and PMCC licensed instructor with the AAPC. Her areas of expertise include medical coding, compliance, auditing, billing, and collections management. She holds specialty certifications in E/M, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiovascular coding.

Kelly Dennis has more than 30 years of experience in physician billing and office administration. She is a certified coder with the American Academy of Professional Coders; a PMCC certified instructor; and received a Certificate of Proficiency in Anesthesiology from the American Academy of Professional Coders in 2001. She is also an Advanced Coding Specialist in Anesthesia and has served as lead anesthesia advisor for the Board of Medical Specialty Coding since 2004.

Marcy Garuccio's career spans more than three decades and is built on a strong anesthesia foundation. She uses her years of experience in both the clinical and consulting arenas to explain the complexities of coding, billing, documentation and compliance regulations such as HIPAA to clinicians and coders. Her medical consulting company provides a full suite of services, with a concentration in auditing and quality and extends to  practice management review,  and office policy creation. She has written articles for AAPC and has presented webinars for AAPC and DecisionHealth.

Patricia is executive vice president and senior auditor of Lexington, Ky.-based Soterion Medical Services. She is a Certified Health Care Auditor, Certified Professional Coder, Instructor for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) to teach its Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (PMCC), a Certified Professional Coder, a Certified Compliance Professional, and a Professional Coding Specialist. Highly respected for her auditing and teaching expertise, Patricia is a consultant for Elsevier, the publisher of major medical coding books and resources and is a regular presenter at national medical conferences.

Leslie Johnson is the owner of AskLeslie.net. She regularly conducts webinars and speaks at live events aimed at explaining the complex rules of documenting, coding and reporting anesthesia services.

Vicki Myckowiak focuses her practice on representing anesthesia and chronic pain groups on issues such as compliance programs, fraud and abuse investigations, reimbursement, third-party-payer audits, coverage issues and contacts. She has helped implement compliance programs for dozens of chronic pain practices and billing companies across the country.

Ruby's areas of expertise include coding, documentation, policy interpretation, education, data quality, appeals and denials. Ruby is passionate about orthopedics and enjoys sharing that passion with others.  Ruby currently serves as the Member Development Officer for the Minneapolis, MN chapter and is a member of the AAPC chapter association board of directors.

Devona Slater is a strong ally to both physicians and their patients. Sandra has more than 35 years of experience with hospitals and physician practices. She provides consulting for health care providers, attorneys and other health care organizations in the areas of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10, analytic analysis, medical record documentation and compliance planning and development. She is the CEO of Soerries Coding & Billing Institute (SCBI).

She has developed many coding tools and programs that have been accredited by the American Academy of Professional Coders, Medical Group Management Association and American Health Information Management Association. Sandra presents nationally on coding and revenue cycle as well as developing specialized training programs to meet the needs of her clients. She is the founder of the AAPC of KC. Sandra provided a two-day training program for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Sandra has been involved in numerous consulting engagements including litigation support at the state and federal level. She assists hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in their daily operations and compliance activities. She has an extensive knowledge with payors and the processing of claims and collections.

Stephanie has been in the medical field for 18 years. She has experience in multiple specialties of medical billing and coding, and is a certified Pain and Anesthesia Coder. Billing is her passion, which is why she’s efficient at maximizing reimbursements while educating providers and staff on proper coding techniques. She motivates and coaches her billers to ensure they achieve a high level of standards. She is currently the Billing Director for a large billing and consulting company, CE Medical Group in Salt Lake City UT. Stephanie enjoys speaking at National Conferences and sharing her knowledge in the Pain Medicine billing and practice management realm.

Amy TurnerRN, BSN, MMHC, CPC | Director of Revenue Integrity at Comprehensive Pain Specialists

Amy Turner is based in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been in the healthcare field since 1989 when she completed her Associates Degree in Nursing at Middle Tennessee State University. Amy then continued her education at MTSU by receiving her Bachelors of Science in nursing, followed by a MMHC from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. She began her nursing career as a charge nurse of the ICU at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Ten years after beginning her career in healthcare, Amy focused her career in pain management. She is currently the director of revenue integrity at comprehensive pain specialists.

Margie Scalley VaughtCPC, CPC-H, CCS-P, MCS-P, ACS-EM, ACS-OR|Margie Scalley Vaught and Associates

With 20+ years focused exclusively in orthopedics, Margie has a unique ability to translate coding, billing and reimbursement rules into real-world practice, (95% of attendees from previous conferences rate Margie a 10 out of 10 speaker!) She is technical editor to DecisionHealth’s Orthopedic Coder’s Pink Sheet and author of orthopedic specialty guides.
